New Hybrids Aster

Symphyotrichum novi-belgii
A good antidote when summer flowers fade and the late-season doldrums hit your garden. These hardy “New York” (the species name dates back to when the State of New York was known as ‘New Belgium’) perennial asters pick up right where the others leave off, blooming the first year in a range of colors from red to purple and bluish to white in sequence from August to November. Because this is a mix of various hybrids and each type, in turn, blooms for several weeks, it makes a continuous long-lived show of color on the 4' plants. The New World asters have been taken from the Aster genus and some were renamed Symphyotrichum. Perennial, Zones 4-8. About 1,700 seeds/g.
