F-1 hybrid.
Annual. Recommended by Nan King of Walpole, NH, many years ago. She prefers Blue Wave’s plant habit to that of Purple Wave, finding it less rangy, more floriferous, and the foliage better at covering the underpinnings. Has bluish-purple flowers and mounding appearance that spreads large.
Improved to be more rounded with more branching and even more flowers in the center of the plant. This variety also blooms earlier, with only 9.5 hours of daylight, compared to the 10 hours needed by the original version. 2003 AAS. ~10,000 seeds/g.
