12-30" tall. This versatile and low-maintenance North American wildflower has a similar look to Anemone canadensis but does not spread as aggressively. Dainty white 1" blossoms on thin sturdy stems twinkle above attractive lobed toothy foliage in early summer, June in central Maine. The petal-like sepals surround a greenish cluster of stamens, maturing into long-standing seedheads, the “thimbles.”
Native to thin soils of open woods and rocky slopes. Plant 18" apart in moist to medium-dry soil; prefers part shade but will grow in sun or nearly full shade. Drought tolerant once established. Z3. (Bare root crowns)
