C'Huero Ru Bienn Cider Apple

bare-root trees
Malus spp.
Fall.

French cider apple. Possibly from Gironde, Brittany, France.

Mildly bitter and astringent. (SG 1.053) Considered a sweet or mild bittersweet for cider. Medium-sized, slightly ribbed, oval, oblong, yellowish-green with a pinkish-brownish blush. Resembles a small Yellow Bellflower. Ripens late September in western NY state.

Although still early in our trials, we’re happy with its growth and hardiness and consider it worth trialing for cider potential. We got our original scionwood from the USDA ARS collection in Geneva, NY. Uncertain bloom time. Z4. Maine Grown. (Semi-dwarf: 2½-5' bare-root trees)
