Cherry Norman Cider Apple

Malus spp. Fall. Bittersweet cider apple. Exceedingly rare, this classic English heirloom bittersweet probably originated in Herefordshire well before 1880.

Roundish-oblate 2" brilliant red-blushed fruit, sometimes decorated with patches of russet. Tender white soft sweet astringent juicy flesh. We got our scionwood from English cider historian and collector John Teiser in collaboration with the USDA APHIS program (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service). After a period of quarantine the apple received final release from APHIS in 2021, and we’re now pleased to offer it. Fedco is likely the only North American source of the true Cherry Norman.

We’ve been trialing it since 2017, and it’s proven to be hardy in central Maine. Blooms midseason. Z4. Maine Grown. BACK! (Standard: 3–6' bare-root trees)
