Very good fresh eating with sweet “high flavor.” Oblong greenish-yellow with a red blush. Vaguely reminiscent of Bosc in size and shape. Fine-grained soft flesh has minimal grit cells. Good canning pear.
Tree is extremely adaptable, growing all over the Northeast. Long, willowy, very flexible branches won’t break even under the weight of its heavy crops. Fared incredibly well during the cold “test winter” several years ago when hundreds of northern Maine pear trees died to the roots. Extremely hardy and highly recommended for coldest districts.
A good pollinator for other varieties. Scab resistant. Z3. Maine Grown. (2½–6' bare-root trees)
