A classic French dessert variety, possibly from Brittany. First cataloged in 1628 and distributed by nurseries in the U.S. by 1820.
Beautiful and interesting round fruit displays a range of colors from golden yellow to bright green to brick red, all covered by a thin web of russet. Fondly referred to as “Rainbow Russet” by MOFGA orchardist and fruit explorer Laura Sieger. Crisp juicy yellowish-white mild subacid flesh.
