Arctostaphylos uva-ursi Also called Kinnikinick, Hog Cranberry, Mealberry, Sandberry, Mountain Box or Bear’s Grape.

Delicate low-growing beautiful glossy evergreen spreading groundcover. Beautiful in rock gardens. One plant can spread to 15'.

Small pinkish-white flowers in spring. Small bright red drupe-type berries color up in late summer and persist into winter. Too insipid for fresh eating, but good fried with fish. Leaves are diuretic, astringent and antibacterial.

Prefers poor sandy infertile acid soils, tolerates salt. Can be sensitive to root disturbance, thus finicky in transplanting and may be slow to establish. Set plants 1–2' apart. No need ever to prune or fertilize. Sun or partial shade. Native to North America and Eurasia. Self-pollinating. Z2. Maine Grown. (1-gallon fabric pots)

Items from our perennial plants warehouse ordered on or before March 7 will ship around March 31 through late April, starting with warmer areas and finishing in colder areas. Orders placed after March 7 will ship around late April through early-to-mid May, in the order in which they were received.
