‘Prairie Expedition’ American Elm

Ulmus americana 60' × 35-40' ND St U Res Foundation, 2004.

New selection from a wild specimen growing along the Wild Rice River near Fargo, ND. A lone survivor surrounded by other trees that had succumbed to the fatal Dutch elm disease. Further studies at U Minn confirmed its excellent resistance.

Soil adaptable, prefers moist areas along rivers and streams but also grows well in drier places. Salt and drought tolerant. Z3. Limited supply! (3–6' bare-root trees)
