New selection from a wild specimen growing along the Wild Rice River near Fargo, ND. A lone survivor surrounded by other trees that had succumbed to the fatal Dutch elm disease. Further studies at U Minn confirmed its excellent resistance.
Soil adaptable, prefers moist areas along rivers and streams but also grows well in drier places. Salt and drought tolerant. Z3. Limited supply! (3–6' bare-root trees)
