North American native with tall brilliant purple wands loved by butterflies. Adds elegant structure to the perennial border and mixed bouquets. For cutflowers be sure to leave at least 1/3 of the stem on each plant for best results. Blooms from July to September. Tolerates a broad range of growing conditions, but not drought.
Plant in full sun, 3" deep, 8–12" apart, in well-drained fertile soil. Z3. Maine Grown. (1¼-1½" corms)
