We are crazy about Trollius, which are like big overgrown hyper-selected buttercups. Spherical to bowl-shaped orangey-yellow double flowers bloom in late spring, around the time of late tulips, on stems above the foliage. Excellent for cutting. The fancy petal-filled flowers seem miraculous blooming so early in the season. Palmately lobed, then further divided and toothed (buttercup-like) leaves form a mound. Ideal for a moist border, streamside, or naturalizing in a damp meadow.
Plant 8–12" apart in moist heavy soil, full sun to part shade. Z3. (bare-root crowns)
