Winged Everlasting Flower Seed

Ammobium alatum
(75 days) Open-pollinated. Perennial to Zone 9, grown as an annual. Shimmery ½" pearl-like buds on long stems add a studded silvery sparkle to both fresh summer arrangements and to dried bouquets and wreaths. Harvest after the winged stems have stiffened, but before the blooms fully open (as you would a strawflower.) Plants will send up new stems if you keep cutting them from the base. Left to mature, the papery flowers open to reveal bright yellow centers that attract a wide array of pollinators. Native to Australia. Start indoors 4 weeks before a spring transplanting. Sun-loving, and drought-tolerant once established, but stem length and abundance will suffer in very dry seasons. 2,100 seeds/g. NEW!
