One of the most famous of all American crabapples and certainly the one with the coolest name. White single flowers bloom with midseason apples. Red-blushed roundish 1½-2" fruit ripens in late summer. Tart, juicy and astringent, used traditionally for all culinary purposes and now becoming popular with cidermakers.
Tree is large, wide spreading and somewhat weeping. Fireblight susceptible. Probably Z4.
